Bloom: Sleep Garden

Sleep well. Wake up to flowers.

Bloom is a little garden that grows while you sleep. Every night you sleep brings water and petals, and the flowers you water before bed bloom by morning.

For iPhone · Works with Apple Health

Bloom at night: a garden of blooming roses, tulips and sunflowers behind a white fence, under a crescent moon, with lamp posts, glowing pumpkins, birdhouses and a bird bath, and the Goodnight button and garden tools below.
How it works

Your sleep, turned into a garden

Sleep the way you already do, and wake up to see what grew.

1

Sleep

Wear your Apple Watch, a ring or any tracker that shares sleep with Apple Health. No watch? Your iPhone's time in bed counts too. Bloom reads last night's sleep and nothing else.

2

Wake up to rewards

Every night you sleep earns water and petals, even a short one. Better sleep earns more, and so does a steady bedtime and wake-up.

3

Watch it bloom

Plant seeds and water them before bed. Night by night they grow, from seed to sprout to bud to bloom.

Try it

Grow a little garden

Plant a seed, water it before bed and say goodnight. Wake up to see what grew.

12 petals 4 water

Pick a seed packet, then tap an empty patch of grass.

Made for sleepy gardeners

Every morning

Good morning, gardener

Each morning Bloom shows what your sleep grew: how long you slept, your sleep score, what you earned, and which flowers bloomed overnight.

  • A Bloom Score from how long, how soundly and how deeply you slept
  • Bonuses for beating your own average and keeping a steady bedtime and wake-up
  • Gentle by design: a short night never takes anything away
The morning card for last night: 8 hours 56 minutes asleep, a Bloom Score of 88, plus 38 water and 40 petals, honey from the bee, a seed from a bluebird, dew that watered the blooms, and a sunflower and a rose that bloomed overnight.
Insights

See how you really sleep

Insights turns your last 7 or 30 nights into charts you can actually read.

  • Time asleep against your goal, night by night
  • Your Bloom Score and the four parts that make it up
  • Sleep stages, bedtimes, and plain-language notes on what stands out
Insights for the last 30 days: 7 hours 21 minutes asleep a night, an average score of 80, 26 of 30 nights tracked, and a chart of time asleep against an 8-hour goal.
Last night: 8 hours 56 minutes asleep, a Bloom Score of 88, the times you fell asleep and woke up, and a timeline of sleep stages.
Streaks

Keep your streak growing

Every night of four hours or more adds to your streak, and milestones pay out extra water and petals.

  • Long streaks unlock the rarest flowers: the Peony, Water Lily and Bird of Paradise
  • Dew Shields keep your streak alive through a missed night or two
The Sleep screen at night: a 31-night streak, 29 more nights to the 60-night bonus, 2 Dew Shields ready, and a chart of the last 7 nights.
Friends

Grow together

Add friends by username or invite code, then visit each other's gardens.

  • Water a thirsty flower in a friend's garden
  • Gift a drop of water and a petal to up to 10 friends a day. It's free: nothing leaves your garden.
  • You choose what friends see. Your nights and scores always stay private.
The Friends screen: a friend request from Jun, garden friends Ava, Mika and Sam with their streaks, blooms and days of gifts in a row, and a button to invite a friend.

Grow 50 flowers, from daisies and poppies to roses, dahlias, hibiscus and a pumpkin that glows on October nights, with more on the way, and arrange them however you like.

  • Expand your plot one tile at a time

  • A bee that makes honey, bluebirds that bring seeds and can dress up as a robin, cardinal or chickadee, and a butterfly to welcome
  • Keep your favorites in the greenhouse, and your garden on your Home Screen with widgets
The shop's Animals tab: the bee and the bluebird, the butterfly as a special visitor, and five looks for your bluebirds: Robin, Sage Bird, Goldfinch, Cardinal and Chickadee.
The greenhouse: a daisy, lavender and a budding hydrangea in pots on wooden shelves, filling 3 of the first room's 12 spots.
Privacy

Your nights stay on your iPhone

Bloom reads your sleep from Apple Health and keeps your nights on your phone: their times, stages and scores are never uploaded, shared or sold. Friends see your streak only if you choose to share it.

Read the privacy policy

Sleep only, read only

Bloom asks Apple Health for sleep and nothing else, and never writes anything back.

No ads, no tracking

No advertising, and your data is never sold. Anonymous usage notes are optional.

Friends are optional

An account is only for friends, and you can delete it any time. Your garden works without one.

Questions

Good to know

What do I need?

Just an iPhone. A tracker that shares sleep with Apple Health (an Apple Watch, a ring such as Oura, Garmin or a sleep app) counts your nights in full. Without one, your iPhone's time in bed counts too: turn on its sleep schedule in the Health app, and each night earns three quarters of the water and petals.

Does Bloom read anything else from Apple Health?

No. It only asks for sleep, and it never writes anything to Apple Health.

Can my friends see my sleep?

No. Your sleep never leaves your iPhone. Friends can visit your garden, and see your streak if you choose to share it.

What if I forget to wear my tracker?

Your garden is safe. If your iPhone tracks your time in bed, that night still counts, at three quarters. And a Dew Shield, bought with petals, keeps your streak alive through a missed night or two.

How much does it cost?

Nothing: Bloom is free, in the beta now and on the App Store when it's out for everyone. Bloom Plus is an optional subscription for extras, like twice the water and petals.

Bloom is in beta

Bloom is on TestFlight now and coming to the App Store soon. Ask for an invite and start growing your garden tonight.
